Description
Dr. Bruce Perry's Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics is a neurodevelopmentally-informed, biologically respectful perspective on human development and functioning that assists parents and professions in understanding children's behaviors, development, and learning. This course introduces the basics of the Neurosequential Model, including principles of neurodevelopment and the effects of childhood trauma on the brain. Utilizing Perry's "6 R's" (Relational, Relevant, Repetitive, Rewarding, Rhythmic and Respectful) the speaker examines how to meet children's needs through neurodevelopmentally-informed parenting and interventions. The review of the structure and implementation of Harmony Family Center's ASAP (Adoption Support and Preservation) program illustrates practical application of these principles.
