Adoption Options for Military Members

Description
Prospective adoptive parents currently serving in the military need information that is tailored to their circumstances and reflective of the procedural challenges that can occur for military families seeking to adopt. Therefore, social workers and adoption professionals working with the military community need to be equipped with the right tools, information, and strategies for supporting these military adoptive families.

NCFA’s Adoption Education Manager, Elise Lowe, and agency member Kristine Altwies, LMFT of “A Family Tree,” present this course focused on the distinct aspects of adoption within military families. This course focuses on how the unique nature of military life can lead many to believe that adoption is not an option or a good fit for a military family, when in fact, it has been a very positive and successful way for many children to have permanent, loving homes.
