This training dives into the intergenerational effects of complex trauma within the attachment relationship, with specific consideration for prenatal and preverbal trauma. The complexities of intergenerational patterns of engagement and functioning are explained in the context of secure versus insecure attachment patterns beginning in utero, and the disruptions caused by early trauma to the typically developing process are explored. The effects of prenatal trauma to the nervous system and the development of the brain are explored, and information on current research and effective treatment approaches are provided.
