[This is a National Training and Development Curriculum (NTDC) course.]

This theme helps participants recognize the benefits for children when they are aware of their adoption story. The importance of maintaining connections with their birth families and strategies for maintaining and promoting connections are highlighted. The continuum that exists for connection is described and tips for how to negotiate relationships with birth families are shared. This theme also covers the impact on children’s loyalty and identity toward birth parents and parents who are adopting.
